A taste of Canada at Mürtschenstock

Tour description

This walk takes us from Habergschwänd into a surprisingly peaceful and scenically magnificent world high above the Glarus region. The Talalpsee alone is the first highlight: nestled peacefully amongst woodland, alpine meadows and rocky slopes, it feels like a little mountain gem far removed from the hustle and bustle.

Things become even more unspoilt at Spaneggsee. Here, you really do get a touch of that Canadian feeling: dark water, quiet shores, fir trees, wide open spaces and, above it all, the impressive scenery of the Mürtschenstock. This striking mountain accompanies us time and again like a mighty backdrop, giving the tour its special character.

We continue our hike along varied mountain paths, captivated by this wild landscape, past scenic slopes towards the Fronalpstock and down to Mullern. The mix of lakeside romance, alpine meadows, woodland sections and sweeping views of the Glarus mountains makes this tour a wonderful destination for anyone seeking something special – peaceful, impressive and with a landscape all of its own.

To round off the day, we take the on-demand taxi from Mullern or towards Mollis at a leisurely pace. This ensures the tour remains elegant, well-rounded and thoroughly enjoyable – with plenty of natural spectacle, but without an unnecessarily long descent.
