The haymakers world: from Lake Seewli to Schächental valley

Tour description

This autumnal mountain hike follows the paths of the haymakers into secluded high valleys. We spend the night in a simple alpine hut next to the famous Lake Seewli and, on the second day, climb to the panoramic summit of the Hoch Fulen at 2,506 metres.

Mountain meadows with orchids
A small cable car takes us up the 650 metres in altitude to the Schwandiberge. We warm up on the panoramic trail above the Reuss Valley until the steep path branching off to Ronenalp begins. The alpine pastures up here are rich in orchids and lilies. From the Bödmer-Alp, the steep mountain slopes of the Wildheuer begin. We cross over to the ‘Wissen Platten’ and descend gently to the Seewli Alp and the famous glacial lake.

To the summit of the Hoch Fulen
The second day takes us to the Seewli Ridge and into the upper Griesstal valley. We climb the pass from the other side and hike northwards onto the gentle slopes of the Hoch Fulen: at 2,506 metres, it is the highest mountain in the area, facing the jagged silhouette of the Windgällen. The route now leads 7 km downhill through wide high valleys, past glacial slabs, through rocky slopes and over ridges down to the cable car to Witterschwanden in the Schächental.

A fantastic tour through the home of the haymakers.
