Glarner Sagen by Kaspar Freuler was long out of print, reissued by BAESCHLIN VERLAG in 2022.
The book divides the canton into four regions - the hiking cycle begins in the lowlands, i.e. the front part of the canton towards the Linth plain.

Glarus sagas 1 - the Unterland region

Tour description

This hike is the first in a series of five themed hikes that follow the Glarus legends collected by Kaspar Freuler and Fridolin Hauser and published in 1952. On this hike on 9 May, we take the cable car up to Morgenholz, later climb up towards Brüggler, cross the Boggenmoor and descend towards Läuferberg, where we take the mountain taxi back to Niederurnen.

Each of the five hikes stands for itself. They do not follow an "inner logic", but rather scenically varied paths along which interesting natural phenomena and legendary motifs can be discovered and told. These spring hikes are good preparation for longer tours and open up the Glarus valleys just outside Zurich.
