Tour description
This hike is the fourth in a series of five themed hikes in May 2024 that follow the Glarus legends collected by Kaspar Freuler and Fridolin Hauser and published in 1952. On this hike on 17 May, we take the Postbus to Matt and climb along the Mühlebach stream up to the Gamszinggen, then on to the foot of the Sunnenhöreli and the Mattmoor. We return to the mountain station along the high-level trail and take the cable car down to Matt.
Each of the five hikes stands for itself. They do not follow an "inner logic", but rather scenically varied paths along which interesting natural phenomena and legendary motifs can be discovered and told. These spring hikes are good preparation for longer tours and open up the Glarus valleys just outside Zurich.
Among the multi-day hikes you will find the last stage of the Glarus legends: a two-day tour with an overnight stay in a self-catering hut and a reading by the campfire - under a full moon.
